Chancellor John Healey has ruled out a warehouse tax in his first Budget later this month, The Telegraph understands. Retail leaders including John Lewis chairman Jason Tarry warned higher rates on large warehouses would hurt high streets and family firms. Andy Burnham had signalled taxing warehouses to fund rate cuts for pubs and venues. Healey will meet retail and hospitality chiefs in London next week.
