The United States has publicly lifted a forty-one-year ban on direct flights with Lebanon, imposed in nineteen eighty-five after the TWA Flight eight four seven hijacking. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun welcomed it as proof of American confidence in aviation safety reforms. Donald Trump ordered the change nearly two weeks earlier after announcing it during Aoun's July visit. No date for resumed flights has been set.
