From Sunday, 20 September 2026, passengers with cancelled trains can use another operator's service at no extra cost. The change aims to end the need for costly re-bookings and waiting at stations for ticket acceptance. The initiative will now encompass CrossCountry, Great Western Railway, Avanti West Coast, and Chiltern Railways.
