Budget Raises Income Tax for Landlords and Savers Again

Budget Raises Income Tax for Landlords and Savers Again

Albert Bridge, CC BY-SA 2.0, via Wikimedia Commons

Chancellor John Healey has added another two percentage points to the income tax paid on rent and savings interest from April 2027, on top of last year's rise. Basic-rate payers will pay 24%, higher-rate 44% and additional-rate 49% on that income. The Treasury says tax on wages from work stays unchanged and that 84% of income tax payers will not be affected by this rise.
