Bristol Police Get Dispersal Powers Ahead of Protests

Bristol Police Get Dispersal Powers Ahead of Protests

Wikimedia Commons

Avon and Somerset Police authorised a temporary dispersal zone and face-covering ban in Bristol city centre from 16:00 to 23:00 BST ahead of a planned protest and counter-protest. Officers said people may express their views lawfully but face arrest if they break the rules. Chief Inspector Keith Smith warned that delayed arrests remain possible where that secures stronger evidence and keeps the public safer still.
