Florida Governor Ron DeSantis withdrew the death warrant for William Thompson, cancelling the 74-year-old's scheduled 13 October execution. Thompson was convicted over a 1976 Miami-Dade murder. DeSantis gave no public reason, though counsel had raised dementia and cognitive decline and a psychiatric panel reviewed him. Thompson remains on death row and could face a new warrant. James Robertson's separate Florida execution date was left unchanged.
