Why are small asteroids no threat?

CERNQ52's tiny size, between 0.6 and 1.2 metres, meant it posed no threat. Objects this small usually burn up completely or break into harmless fragments high in the atmosphere. It's only asteroids significantly larger, typically over 25 metres, that are considered potentially dangerous, as they could cause damage if they reached the ground.
