Who pays for tariffs?

While tariffs are imposed by governments on imported goods, the cost is typically passed on to consumers. Importers pay the tariff, but they usually factor that extra cost into the price they charge retailers, who then pass it on to you, the shopper. So, ultimately, it's often the consumer who pays.
