Canada's tariffs hit US golf clubs and toilet paper

Canada's retaliatory tariffs took effect after midnight on Tuesday, hitting nearly C$28bn of American goods, from steel and cheese to golf clubs and toilet paper, at rates up to 50%. Mark Carney told Canadians the pivot away from the US "will come at a cost", but said standing still would cost more. Washington's trade representative said America could escalate again the same day.
