Wolverhampton Wanderers secured a 2-0 victory against Aston Villa at home. Joao Gomes netted the opening goal for Wolves in the 61st minute, his season's first goal. This result ensured the team sidestepped the Premier League's lowest points record, exceeding Derby County's prior worst tally. The win prevented Wolves from achieving an unwanted record for the fewest points in a season.
