Max Verstappen has criticised Formula 1’s 2026 rule changes, arguing that the increased emphasis on energy saving undermines the sport’s natural intensity. The four-time world champion said the new requirements limit a driver’s ability to attack flat-out. His view was played down by Lando Norris, the reigning 2025 champion, who insisted adaptation is part of modern racing. The McLaren driver added that managing complex hybrid systems is an expected challenge for elite, well-paid professionals in today’s Formula 1 era.
