UK Winter Flu Season Arrives Five Weeks Early, Officials Urge Vaccination
The UK’s flu season has started five weeks ahead of schedule, with cases rising sharply among children and young people, according to the UK Health Security Agency. Dr Suzanna McDonald, UKHSA flu lead, expressed concern about the unusually early circulation. Authorities warned the virus would spread across older age groups in coming weeks and are urging eligible people to get vaccinated. Last year, nearly 8,000 people died from flu in England. Everyone aged 65 and over, pregnant women, and those with long-term health conditions can receive a free NHS flu jab.
