UK police to end recording non-crime hate incidents
UK police leaders have agreed to scrap the recording of non-crime hate incidents, calling the current system no longer fit for purpose after concerns about free speech and resource allocation. The College of Policing and National Police Chiefs' Council will propose replacing NCHIs with a new common sense approach that records only the most serious incidents as anti-social behaviour. Plans will be presented to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood next month and are expected to receive government backing.
