Tories warn 6,500 'dangerous offenders' could be freed by September 2

Kemi Badenoch, the Conservative leader, claims at least 6,500 rapists, killers and paedophiles could leave prison under the scheme by 2 September. Prime Minister paused the releases while an urgent review takes place, promising not to let anyone out early until it finishes. Labour inherited male prisons with fewer than 100 empty spaces after previous Tory early releases.
