Derbyshire Constabulary announced that the A38's southbound carriageway was shut at the Kilburn turn-off from 5pm on Thursday 15 October. The northbound side shut too, after a lorry jack-knifed across the southbound side road. Police said the central reservation was damaged and pushed into the northbound outside lane, and drivers were told to avoid the area.
