Tesla door issues could bring new safety rules for all cars
America's road safety regulator says Tesla's electronic door handles, linked to several deaths, don't need a defect investigation. Instead, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration wants to create new rules for all cars to have clear, robust door release systems. The rule-making process could take years, meaning any new requirements might not be in place until 2030 or later.
