Synagogue attacker's friend jailed for military base plot

Synagogue attacker's friend jailed for military base plot

Mohammad Asim Bashir received a sentence after admitting to planning a terror attack on a military base. He drove Jihad Al-Shamie for a reconnaissance mission to the UK Defence Academy site in Shrivenham, Oxfordshire, on 14 August 2025. Prosecutors called Bashir a "long-standing, committed jihadist" and noted the planned attack was similar to Al-Shamie's Heaton Park Synagogue attack.
