State pensioners with only state pension will not pay income tax

Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Chancellor John Healey have promised that state pensioners whose only income is the state pension will not pay income tax. The state pension is set to exceed the personal tax allowance from April next year, meaning a small amount of tax would otherwise be due.
