More than 1,000 school support staff in Merton and Greenwich are striking on Friday over London weighting pay, the GMB union said. Teaching assistants get outer London rates while teachers at the same schools receive inner London pay. Workers will rally outside Parliament then march to the Department for Education. Both councils support fairer pay but say only a national settlement can close the gap.
