UAW president Shawn Fain has won re-election with more than 68 percent of the vote, defeating challenger Rich Boyer who took about 13 percent. Fain's return now keeps continuity at the top of one of America's most influential industrial unions after a turbulent period for the auto sector and labour politics nationwide.
