One Blood Test. 50 Cancers. UK Trial Near Results.
A landmark UK clinical trial involving more than 140,000 participants is entering its results phase in 2026. It is testing whether a single blood test can identify around 50 different cancer types by detecting DNA fragments shed into the bloodstream by tumour cells. If successful, NHS England plans to offer the test nationwide. Scientists say catching cancers before symptoms develop could fundamentally change survival rates for diseases currently diagnosed too late to treat effectively in the majority of patients.
