Munich using vibrating trucks to map underground water for geothermal power
Munich is conducting a large-scale seismic survey to map underground water for future geothermal heat and power. Vibrotrucks drive along east-west routes, creating mini-earthquakes that geophones then listen to, mapping layers up to five kilometres deep. The 3D map will help plan new geothermal plants across the city, aiming to fill gaps from previous surveys.
