Labour MP Calls for Return of National Service Like Finland's

Labour MP Alex Ballinger, a former Royal Marine who chairs Parliament's cross-party Armed Forces group, has called for Britain to bring back national service, citing Finland's conscription model amid growing threats from Russia. Speaking at the Finnish ambassador's residence, he said the UK could learn from how Finland gets all of society behind defence. A government source said there were no plans for national service.
