Former prime minister Sir Keir Starmer has been made a core participant in the national grooming gangs inquiry he ordered in 2025, meaning he could be called to give evidence. Hearings in the £65m, three-year inquiry, led by Baroness Anne Longfield, start in December. The inquiry has powers to compel witnesses and is now examining failures in places including Bradford, Oldham, Birmingham, London and Wales.
