Andy Burnham has told England's mayors he is "determined" to bring in tourist taxes, The Times reports, with plans that could let mayors overrule local councils. Speaking to the National Economic Council, the prime minister promised quick legislation, with an overnight visitor levy on hotel and holiday-let stays expected from January 2028. Hospitality groups warn it could add about £100 to a typical family holiday.
