Teachers in England Could Get Four-Day Working Weeks

Education Secretary Lucy Powell has asked the independent pay review body to consider letting full-time teachers in England fit their 1,265 directed hours into four days instead of five. Pupils would still attend school five days a week, with no cut to teaching time. It aims to ease workload and keep experienced staff. Recommendations are due by April 2027, with possible changes from September 2027.
