Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo secured his ninth gold medal in cross-country skiing on Sunday in Tesero, Italy. This historic victory establishes a new all-time record for the most gold medals ever won by a single Winter Olympian. The Norwegian athlete surpassed the previous benchmark of eight titles, a standard he had equalled during a separate race just two days earlier in the competition.
