Iran’s oil minister quits, and the state oil chief is sent in to mind the pumps

State media in Iran said on Sunday that Iran's oil minister, Mohsen Paknejad, had resigned and that President Masoud Pezeshkian had accepted. Hamid Bovard, chief executive of the National Iranian Oil Company, was named acting minister. An aide said Paknejad had wanted to go for personal reasons for a long time. He took the job in August 2024, during the war with the United States.
