Government Backs £55 Million Medical Imaging Centres to Speed Up Cancer Diagnosis

New Centres of Imaging Excellence are to be established in England, Scotland and Wales following a £55 million government commitment announced on 19 February. The hubs will pair advanced scanning technology with clinical expertise to help doctors detect cancer and other diseases at earlier, more treatable stages, and to develop individually tailored treatments. A further £15 million Blue Horizon project will expand tidal energy testing facilities in Orkney, accelerating clean power development along Scotland's coastline.
