Freestyle skier Eileen Gu responded to US Vice President J.D. Vance's criticism regarding her representing China at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Vance questioned why Gu, a US citizen, chose to compete for China, to which Gu sarcastically replied, 'I'm flattered. Thanks, JD! That's sweet.' Gu, 22, a five-time Olympic medallist, advanced to the freeski halfpipe final after qualifying fifth. She also agreed she feels like a 'punching bag' for American politics.
