Chinese scientists reveal M87 black hole's changing radiation patterns

Chinese scientists have created the first map showing how radiation around the M87 black hole changes with distance. The study, published on July 20, combined data from global telescopes to move black hole research beyond static images. Radiation near the centre is affected by synchrotron self-absorption, becoming optically thin further out.
