Carmakers lobbied UK to keep petrol and diesel sales
Major car manufacturers privately urged the UK government to overturn its 2035 prohibition on the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles, newly disclosed documents indicate. BMW, Ford, Nissan, Toyota, and Bosch wrote a joint letter in April, pushing for an "open technology approach" beyond the zero-emission deadline. The government stated the 2035 ban is not up for negotiation.
