Burnham considers 10% 'death tax' for social care funding

Prime Minister Andy Burnham is considering a 10% "death tax" on all estates to fund a new National Care Service in England. The idea, which Labour previously floated in 2010, would involve a compulsory contribution from people's estates after they die. Conservative and Reform UK leaders have already said they will fight any plan involving tax rises to fund social care reform.
