Scientists have uncovered an exceptionally preserved Cretaceous snake fossil in Brazil, revealing surprising variety in early snake brains and habitats. Tametara mirim, this new species, had a brain different from modern and other ancient snakes, suggesting complex shifts in how snakes used their senses and surroundings.
