Anthropic released Opus 5 on Friday at $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output, half the price of Fable 5, its most capable public model. The company says it nearly matches Fable 5, beats it on coding and knowledge work tests, but is not its strongest for cybersecurity. It becomes Claude Max's default and follows OpenAI's GPT-5.6 release this month.
