8 skiers dead after avalanche near Lake Tahoe
An avalanche near Castle Peak in California has killed eight people, while one person remains lost. The group of 15 was on a guided backcountry tour when the snow slide struck on Tuesday morning. Officials stated that rescue efforts have shifted to recovery because the final missing individual is presumed dead. Six survivors were rescued from the site, with two requiring hospital treatment.
