Why are fingerprints fading?

As people age, their skin naturally loses elasticity and moisture, which can cause the ridges on their fingertips to become less defined. This makes it harder for biometric scanners, like those used in the EES, to accurately read and match their fingerprints, leading to rejection and manual processing.
