What is HPV?

HPV, or human papillomavirus, is a very common group of viruses. Some types are high-risk and can cause cell changes that might lead to cervical cancer over many years. The NHS kits are specifically looking for these high-risk types, which is why finding HPV means a follow-up is needed.
