What is an anticyclone?

An anticyclone is a high pressure system, often bringing settled, dry, and sunny weather. The milder, fine days expected mid-week in the story are likely influenced by an anticyclone. They cause air to sink, suppressing cloud formation and rain, which is why we often see clear skies during these periods.
