What is a partial solar eclipse?

A partial solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, but only partially covers the Sun. From Scotland's perspective, the Moon won't perfectly align to block the entire Sun, leading to a 'bite' taken out of the solar disc. This is different from a total eclipse, where the Sun is completely obscured.
