Explained in plain English
How do player transfers work?
When a club wants to buy a player, they negotiate a fee with the player's current club. If an agreement is reached, the player then discusses personal terms and salary with the new club. Morgan Rogers' move to Chelsea involved Aston Villa agreeing to sell him for a record fee, despite Arsenal's interest.
