What is a transfer window?

Football clubs can only buy and sell players during specific times of the year, known as transfer windows. These windows are set by football's governing bodies to maintain fairness and stability in leagues. Outside these periods, players generally can't move between clubs, which is why Atletico Madrid's reported interest in Gabriel Jesus is happening now, likely ahead of the summer window.
