Yen recovers from a 40-year low after US and Japanese governments intervene
The currency reached 155 to the dollar on Monday, bouncing back after months of struggling with lower interest rates than other wealthy nations. Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Donald Trump said his government wanted to step in because America will always support Tokyo. A photographed notebook belonging to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent revealed plans to purchase up to $10 billion of the currency.
