Why Spire Healthcare accepts £1.03bn takeover offer from investors
Spire Healthcare, the UK's largest private hospital operator, accepted a £1.03 billion takeover offer from a consortium of investors, including Toscafund Asset Management. The company cited persistent cost pressures and a need for sustained private investment. Toscafund's chief executive Martin Hughes said being private will give Spire more freedom to invest in its hospitals and people.
