Why is Uganda now free of Ebola?

Uganda reached 42 days without a new case since its last patient was discharged on 16 June, prompting health minister Chris Baryomunsi to declare the Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak over on Tuesday. The outbreak infected 20 people and killed two before containment. Neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo remains in a separate, far larger crisis, with over 3,200 confirmed cases and around 1,437 deaths recorded.
