Westminster City Council plans to raise market traders' weekend pitch fees by up to 90 percent, with hot food vendors in Soho and Marylebone hit hardest. A permanent trading licence could climb to £964 as the council tries to cut a £2.4 million street-trading deficit. Traders called the hike enormous amid soaring produce costs. If the plan is approved, the new charges would start in January.
