A suspicious package delivered to a hotel at Ebrington Square in Londonderry contained a viable explosive device, police in Northern Ireland have said. Army bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion after it was discovered on Tuesday afternoon, and people were evacuated from the hotel and nearby businesses. Detectives condemned it as a reckless and targeted attack. A forensic examination is now under way.
