Vape liquid tax of 22p per ml starts 1 October

A new Vaping Products Duty will apply to all vaping liquids, including nicotine-free versions, from 1 October 2026. Businesses that make or import the liquid will pay the flat rate of £2.20 per 10ml, which is expected to be passed on to customers. HMRC says the tax aims to keep vaping less attractive to young people while maintaining the price gap with tobacco.
