US watchdog says Doge overstated $110bn in savings
The Government Accountability Office found that 110 billion dollars of savings claimed by the Department of Government Efficiency contained errors or lacked evidence. Investigators said Doge could not verify 96 percent of reported grant savings and counted 108 lease terminations already planned before the unit began in January 2025. Doge did not respond to the GAO's requests for information before ending operations on 4 July.
