US Navy may name new carrier after Trump, not Black hero

The US Navy is reportedly considering naming a new aircraft carrier, previously designated the USS Doris Miller, after Donald Trump. Officials had indicated during Trump's first term that the Ford-class carrier would honour Miller, an African American sailor lauded for his actions at Pearl Harbor. Naming an aircraft carrier after a sitting president would be unprecedented.
